Public Disclosure Statement

Adoption Rights Alliance is a not-for-profit, totally volunteer-run advocacy organisation, with service users in Ireland, the UK, various countries in continental Europe, Australia and the US.

Adoption Rights Alliance is an adopted people’s advocacy group which came
together to ensure that the Irish government enshrines the rights of the adopted child and Ireland's 50,000 adult adopted people in legislation.

The main goal of Adoption Rights Alliance is to achieve equality and rights for adopted people in legislation.

In the absence of legislation, Adoption Rights Alliance provides advocacy and advice to adopted people.  Our services are operated on a peer-to-peer information basis and are mostly internet based through our website and Facebook site.  We are also operating an Outreach Service on a pilot basis in conjunction with Kells People’s Resource Centre.

Adoption Rights Alliance has a small group of coordinators in Ireland, as well as a coordinator in the US.  We have internet based service users in Ireland, the UK, various countries in continental Europe, Australia and the US.

Adoption Rights Alliance has not applied for nor has it received funding from the Irish State. We do not currently operate a bank account, however we are in the process of opening one in order to manage donations.

“In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage, to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning . . . and the most disquieting loneliness."
