Universal Periodic Review
In October of 2011, Ireland was examined by other UN countries on our human rights record, otherwise known as the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).  This is the first time that this will happen.  In anticipation of this review, Adoption Rights Alliance made submissions to both the Irish Human Rights Commission and the Irish Council of Civil Liberties' "Rights Now" campaign.  On Monday 21st March 2011 we submitted our main report directly to the United Nations.

“In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage, to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning . . . and the most disquieting loneliness."

Alex Haley, Author of Roots
